On June 22, 2026, Mr. Kittisak Jaidee, Director of the Regional Water Resources Office 8, assigned Ms. Kasirin Phonnak, Director of the Water Resource Conservation Division 1, Songkhla, to attend the 4th/2026 meeting of the Songkhla Lake Basin Committee at the CEO Meeting Room, 5th floor, Songkhla Provincial Hall. Mr. Chucheep Thammaphet, Deputy Governor of Songkhla Province, chaired the meeting. The meeting reviewed the water situation in the Songkhla Lake Basin, with the Regional Water Resources Office 8 reporting on the situation. Progress on the Master Plan for Water Resource Management in the Songkhla Lake Basin, Phase 1 (2023-2037), which is at 22.9% completion, was also discussed, along with laws related to water use permits.
In addition, the meeting considered and provided feedback on the draft measures to address the 2026/2027 drought in the Songkhla Lake Basin. A resolution was passed approving the draft, and the secretariat was instructed to submit it to the Steering Committee on Water Resource Management and the National Water Resources Committee for further consideration according to established procedures.
On other matters, the committee inquired about the Department of Water Resources' water usage fee collection rate of 0.373 baht per cubic meter for Category 2 and Category 3 water users, and suggested considering the establishment of a fund within the Department of Water Resources. It was clarified that this rate was derived from a cost study commissioned by the Department of Water Resources' consultants, leading to the issuance of the relevant ministerial regulation in 2024.
